To change the ILOM Password on ODA

To change the ILOM password when you know the root password of OS on ODA

you have root access to the O/S installed, but the root password on the ILOM is currently unknown, you can change the ILOM password

ODA version: X9-2L

Integrated Lights Out Manager:

Version 5.1.0.20 r145377

Overview of the issue:

There’s a reboot maintenance window on ODA that is about to start in 15 minutes.

We want to connect to ILOM console with one putty session to monitor

the restart activity and restart the server at OS level with shutdown now command.

Suddenly came to know that password of ILOM was not working.

Now we want to reset the password from OS root user.

[root@ODA_Server ~]# ipmitool sunoem cli

Connected. Use ^D to exit.

-> set /SP/users/root password

Enter now password: ********

Enter new password again: ********
