Exadata disk issue – cell Disk confinedOffline State

Exadata disk issue – cell Disk confinedOffline State.

Issue:
Harddisk issue – Status of  Cell disk  “normal – confinedOffline”

Details:

ASR Message :
SASR:osm_cluster:metric_alert:disk_status:mode_status
This is an automated cluster error
OEM Alert Message :
Disk DBFS_DG.DBFS_DG_CD_09_CELL_NODE09 is offline.
Sundiag report and ILOM snapshot need to upload to support for further analysis.

Root Cause:

The hard disk in slot 9 had entered the confinement offline status

Reason for confinedOffline :

Service time is high relative to other disks with similar workloads.  The hard disk demonstrated temporary poor performance.
Data hard disk of size 4.0TB in slot 9 status changed to normal  after the automatic confinement tests run on this disk to confirm if it is good to bring it to normal status.
So during the time period of disk confinedOffline, the corresponding ASM disks/grid disks were reported to be offline. They have become normal after 4 minutes. after that cell disk  status is normal.

Actions taken :

Disks were  automatically online.
Need to replace the Disk if this behavior repeats once again

Verification:

Login to the CellNode(Storage Server)  as root , run below commands:
cellcli -e list celldisk
Cellcli –e List physicaldisk
Cellcli –e List Griddisk
cellcli -e List griddisk attributes name,asmmodestatus,asmdeactivationoutcome;
cellcli -e LIST GRIDDISK ATTRIBUTES name, asmmodestatus;
verified the grid ASM disks status, they are all good.

Suggestion:

  Go for replacement if this behavior repeats once again.
