Steps for replacing motherboard in Exadata
Steps for replacing motherboard in Exadata
This activity is to perform on cellnode and it is considered as FRU replacement. Need to work with Field Engineer to complete this activity.
What is FRU replacement?
- FRU is the short form for Field replaceable unit.
- A System component that is replaceable at customer site. For example processors and mother board
Step 1)
- Prior to the change take backup of SP/ILOM & BIOS configuration.
- SP/ILOM using GUI – – -> ILOM Administration -> Configuration Management -> Backup/Restore -> Operation: Backup
- BIOS using GUI – – -> System Management -> BIOS -> Backup
Step 2)
- Backup of sysconfig & Network configuration files
Step 3)
- Inactive GRID Disks, Shutdown of Cellnode
Step 4)
- Oracle FE replaces motherboard
Step 5)
- Oracle FE will bring up up the cellnode, since motherboard will be replaced we will be connecting to connect ILOM using GUI. So we set few values manually in ILOM CLI.
Step 6)
- Restore the SP/ILOM configuration from the backup we took in Step 1
-
- SP/ILOM using GUI – – -> ILOM Administration -> Configuration Management -> Backup/Restore -> Operation: Restore & Method : Browser
- Since dump_uri method will not be working, download the XML to jump server & use “browser” restore method
- This correctly set ILOM configuration back to original values before change
Step 7)
- Activate GRID Disks, Rebalance
